The Chime Kit

* The individual tubes are electronically tuned
And in addition:
All the small **parts and Dacron String necessary to complete the Chimes
A very clear and tested instruction manual.... a $19.95 value
Templates, diagrams and plans to assist in construction
Free live personal tech support
**The exception is the wooden parts (Disc, Clapper, Sail). The majority of our customers prefer to make them themselves using the plans provided. However, if woodworking is not your thing you can order them ( see supply page).
Tuning: Most of our kits are tuned to a Pentatonic Minor scale. Since the notes on a set of chimes are played at random rather than a specific order, like on a piano, this scale is the most pleasing and most often used. This scale had it's early beginnings in the Orient. Custom tuning is available.

Hanging Techniques
You can use a Steel Ring or a wooden Disc to suspend the chimes
There are two ways to hang the Chimes; a center or a side mount method
Please advise us of your choice.

**The center suspension method is dependent upon the axle having an inverted "V" in the center. The purpose of the "V" is to keep the string centered in the tube. Without this "V" the string would slide off to the side, make contact with the top of the tube and in doing so, dampen the sound. This system is used by many chime manufactures.
Chime manufactures use an expensive piece of machinery to install the inverted "V". Until recently, it was near impossible for the hobbyist to install the inverted "V". About two years ago we invented a patented process to enable the hobbyist to install the inverted "V" quickly and easily with a minimal cost of tooling.
Tools Required:
Metal rod - 3/8" diameter 3 to 4 ft. long. (Home Depot $4.00 to $5.00) Wood Collars 2 - 4
DIY: Our instruction manual has drawings will clearly define how to make the two tools. The manual will guide you step by step on how to use these tools to install the inverted "V".
Actually, once you have learned to use the tools to install the inverted "V", assembling the wind chimes is faster and easier than using the side hung method.
Tool OptionThe above tools are very easily made, however if you prefer, as an accommodation, we have the tool kit available at $8.95 which includes the rod ground to shape and two collars.
