The Red wood disk and clapper will be made of a substantial 1-1/4 " thick material with a molded edge giving it a very special appearance . In addition, Redwood does very well in the weather.

Wind Chime StringIncluded in the kit. However if you need string....we have a variety, one of which will definitely suit your needs. The strings are made of Braided Dacron especially for Wind Chimes. Therefore they are extremely durable, strong and have the ability to withstand the weather. The string should last well beyond your expectations. Fishing line can be used, but totally lacks the components and thickness for long term weather durability. For the few cents involved, the proper string is a good investment.
Re-assembling an existing set
For those that are purchasing the string to repair an existing set, a Tech sheet is available at N/C.

String Quality
- Strength - Measured in pounds lifted to the breaking point. It is a factor in durability, but only plays a minor role.
- Durability - Several factors affect the lasting quality. The type of yarn, the test (ie 250lbs), braided construction, weather resistant chemistry and finally thickness. One of the more important factors is the diameter. Our Wind Chime string is designed to take the test of time, weather and to be long lasting. However, thicker will last longer
- Weather Resistant - The sun is the enemy. To retard UV degradation a chemical inhibitor is added to the yarn. Additionally and equally important is the color of the yarn. Black is the least affected by UV rays.
- Braided Dacron - Stable, will not stretch. Provides flexibility which retards wear and in addition enables it to hold a knot.

If you have a Drill Press this tool is a must for drilling round material. It stabilizes and accurately aligns tubing when drilling clear thru the pipe. Made of wood so as not to mar the aluminum tubing. Instructions included.
Tubing Reamer $8.95
To remove burrs on the inside and outside of the tube. It looks like an old fashioned hand pencil sharpener. Put the tube in one side, twist it twice and the outside burr is gone. Put it in the other side, twist, and the inside burr is gone.
